The other day, I had a meeting for a while in front of the “Moyai statue” at Shibuya station west entrance.

For the convenience of my work, there are many opportunities to meet customers at Shibuya station.

Shibuya station has changed year after year,

Also, most people who visit Shibuya often think that “Hachiko” or “Moyai statue” is the one who is not used to the city of Shibuya.

For “Hachiko” as well as “faithful dog Hachiko” are also famous many people who know the story,

Many people do not know much about anecdotes about “Moyai statue”.

There are many people who think that “Moyai statue” is imitating “Moai statue”

The name “Moyai” also has a correct origin.

Actually, “Moyai statue” is not only in Shibuya but also in various parts of Japan including Kamata station and Takeshiba pier.

This “Moyai statue” was donated from “Niijima Island” far from the south.

It seems that the material is also used as an unusual stone of Niijima special product “Anti Firestone (Koga-stone)”.

Back in 1980, in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of Niijima being transferred to Tokyo Metropolitan Government,

It was donated from Shinjima to Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

Although it is named “Moyai”, it is a name that mimics the “Moai” on Easter Island,

But,”Moyai” is a word that also leads to “bonds”, “help each other”, “join forces” and “work together” in the local language of Niijima.

From the origin of such deep words it seems to have implications such as marriage.

Listening to that story is a great place to meet lovers! !

The Shibuya Moyai statue that we normally casually passed by.

Actually, do you know that you have two kinds of faces with “coin locker side” and “bus stop side”?

If you meet in Shibuya Moyai statue, I think that it is interesting to take a closer look. . .
