“Free Wi-Fi” in Japan
In Japan, we will hold the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020 for the first time in 56 years.
Also, in 2013,”Japanese food” is registered as World Intangible Cultural Heritage,
foreign visitors to Japan visiting eelare increasing as eel is affected by the boom including Japanese pop culture.
Even if you are walking in the city of Tokyo, includng Shibuya,
you can say that there are no days when you do not meet foreigners first.
In addition of Tokyo, I felt the charm of the local culture of local cities and became able to see many foreign visitors to all over Japan all over the country.
Japanese Government and NGOs have also been widely publicizing Japanese tourism in foreign countries,
and foreign visitors to Japan will continue to increase in the future.
However, Japan’s response to accepting foreigners’ visitors is still not catching up yet.
I have a chance to talk with foreigners as I am in a cafe, Many foreigners are said to feel stressed in “Free Wi-Fi”.
I also have many opportunities to go abroad, including
Southaest Asia, on business trips and traveling, In any country “Free Wi-Fi” is substantial.
Even countries that are still in the process of economic development(in terms of GDP,even less than 10% of Japan’s )
“Free Wi-Fi” is useful.
Regarding Japan, it is necessary to register as a member.
There are too many places where “Free Wi-Fi” can not be used or introduced.
In overseas cafes and hotels, “Wi-Fi Internet access” is often provided for free.
But nowadays, it is not popular in Japan.
Sometimes acquaintances have also been ridiculed as “Japan behind schedule,Japanese carriers are stingy”?
“Wi-Fi Internet access” in Japan is charged becouse the cost required for the system for identity authentication is large,
Cafes and carriers that do not provide Lines for free are not stingy.
But! From the user’s point of view the same thing, it costs more to the authenticatuins system than the internet line itself.
It becomes a specific telecommunications service provider even by providing free Internet access.
It will be troublesome when something happens when a line is used for crime, so small cafes,
private hotels and local governments seem to be hesitating.
It means that Japanese laws and regulations including the certification system of the servis provider’s carrir are not catching up.
As the number of tourists visiting Japan continues to increase,
I would like those infastructure and the acceptance system of the country to be prepared.
