The Emperor’s New Clothes

January 31, 2017 / / 0 Comments

Today’s blog will be a bit of a political satire.

“The Emperor’s New Clothes” is a well-known story about an emperor who buys clothes that cannot be seen by incompetent and inept people.

The emperor did not want people to think he was stupid. So he pretended that he could see the clothes and walked around town “wearing” it.

His servants and subjects knew he was walking around with no clothes on. However, they did not want to upset the emperor, so they stayed quiet.

Then, a child shouted out, “The emperor is not wearing clothes!” This created an awkward situation.

However, the emperor himself and all of his people were actually acting as if they could see the clothes, as they did not want to be seen as stupid.

With the child’s honest remark, everyone except the emperor laughs, making fun of the fact that he is naked.

A similar situation can be seen today. Especially in the world of politics, where you can detect and get glimpses of vanity and ego, maybe it is hard to find people who are genuinely honest.

I will not say which country, but I cannot help but see its new president as the emperor in the story.

The president ventured and implemented a Presidential Decree without listening to what the people have to say.

This policy invited criticism from many citizens, specialists, and attorney generals. However, it seems that their concerns and anger has not yet reached those close to the president.

This may be because the president’s advisors are all yes-men around him. Or, there may be tension, making it difficult for those who are doubtful of the president’s actions to state their opinions. They cannot be honest like the child in the story.

This is a personal opinion, but I think that there has never been a president who provoked so much loathing.

The IT companies of Silicon Valley also criticize his actions towards the refugee issue.

I wonder if he can carry out his duties as president for 4 years, and I will continue to follow and observe his conduct.
